My interests are located in the intersection between economics and history. Two developments sparked these interests. First, I was observing rapid changes in the economy and technology. In the past, how did such radical change impact businesses and people? Second, as I got into debating, I deliberated on many policy issues--public vs. private healthcare, consumption vs. income tax, etc. While preparing for the debates, I had my first glimpse of scholarly research. The striking feature of these was that they were built on empirical models of objective accounting data. As I embark on exploring the past so as to understand the future, I believe accounting will be the perfect complement.
